The premier internet provider in the Des Moines area is accepting applications for a Lineperson/Underground Boring Crew. Mi-Fiber is building a brand new fiber optic network, and we need you to help provide service to our customers. We pride ourselves in providing the best speeds available, along with superior customer service and support.

Duties required of this position are varied, including, but not limited to:

  • Construction of buried fiber optic cable facilities
  • Operating and maintaining all vehicles and digging equipment in a safe and responsible manner
  • Working with excavation tools such as a shovel, spade, pick, trencher, backhoe, cable plot, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

The Lineperson must be highly motivated and driven to provide exceptional customer service. This position requires:

  • Good communication and self-motivation skills
  • Ability to operate hand tools, trenchers, and backhoes
  • Ability to use a cable locator, hand test set, and other test equipment
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 70 pounds
  • Ability to distinguish color with normal/corrected eyesight
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions and Saturdays/overtime when required

The Lineperson must have a valid Iowa driver’s license – Class C operator license and satisfactory driving record. A high school diploma or GED is required and previous experience is preferred. The Lineperson will be an employee of our parent company, GRM Networks, but will be based in Urbandale.
