Internet Service Technician/Installer, Splicer, Locator

The premier internet provider in the Des Moines area is looking for enthusiastic, customer-oriented Technicians to join our team. Mi-Fiber is building a brand new fiber optic network, and we need you to install and troubleshoot service, and splice, maintain and locate fiber optic cable. We pride ourselves in providing the best speeds available, along with superior customer service and support.


Duties required of this position are varied, including, but not limited to:

  • Programming and trouble shooting of various internet and telephone services and data networks
  • Installation of business communication systems and residential wiring
  • Placement and maintenance of underground cables
  • Splicing, terminating, and locating buried cables
  • Other duties as assigned


Technicians must be sales minded with the ability to interact with customers and potential customers, and promote and sell new and existing product offerings. This position requires:

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Proficiency in the use of computers, printers, and multi-line phone systems
  • The ability to operate hand tools
  • The ability to drive a service vehicle and tow a loaded trailer
  • The ability to lift and carry up to 70 pounds
  • The ability to distinguish color with normal/corrected eyesight
  • The ability to work in adverse weather conditions and Saturdays/overtime when required


Residency (or relocation within a reasonable amount of time) in the Mi-Fiber service area is preferred. The technician must live within 30 minutes of the reporting location in Urbandale (15 minutes preferred), and have a valid Iowa Class C non-commerical operator license. Successful candidates will be an employee of our parent company, GRM Networks, but will be based in Urbandale, Iowa.
